Gliding Into Grants...

Yes, that's right. Professional Development Support will be gliding into podcasts on project-based learning for the 2007-2008 school year. Our unit will be working in conjunction with the Instructional Technology department. We will document best practices from Project GLIDES,a project-based learning initiative, and create curriculum modules to be used in a Project-Based Learning (PBL) course. Twenty-seven schools in the district will be the recipients of the $1.12 million Enhancing Education Through Technology grant from the Florida Department of Education.

The grant is the evolution of Instructional Technology’s Project G.L.I.D.E.S. (Global Initiatives and Digital Education for Students and Teachers). The goal of the grant is to advance technology integration skills of teachers and administrators through project-based learning. Stay tuned to Human Resource Development’s Podcast Corner as we document the journey of teachers and administrator at participating schools.

This appears to be an exciting opportunity. Has this involvement adjusted your PDS Program? Logic Model? Are the objectives and/or activities of the grant found in other HRD Programs?

I do not believe this involvement has adjusted the PDS Program since PDS's involvement in small in comparison with the entire project. Once the directors of both departments work out the final plan for our collaboration I will be able to answer the rest of your questions.
